The objective of the project is to strengthen the institutional capacity of Genesis Empresarial in its transformation into a commercial bank specializing in the provision of financial services to the Guatemalan small and microenterprise sectors. The improved institutional capacity will allow Genesis Empresarial to improve its operational efficiency, enhance its financial position, reach a larger number of small and microenterprises, and offer a wider variety of financial services to meet their needs. This project includes the following activities: acquire and operationalize a complete new banking software for their Management Information System (MIS) which will allow Genesis to process portfolio, accounting and treasury information and compile and present reports in a completely integrated manner; acquire upgraded computer hardware, a server, and telecommunications equipment; andtrain pertinent Génesis staff in the operation and maintenance of this software and hardware, and other financial management issues; and (iv) obtain technical assistance in new credit and savings products for the sector.
