Objective: Installation of a new 4 inch treated water flow meter to replace the existing 2 inch treated water flow meter which creates a flow restriction during flushing and times of very high water demand. This would enable the plant to provide enough water to accommodate fire hydrants in the future. Furthermore, eliminating the flow restriction would theoretically save energy by reducing system friction loss. Scope: Remove the existing 2 inch flow meter and associated spools. Purchase and install a new 4 inch flow meter and spools. Wire and program the flow meter to the plant’s programmable logic controller (PLC), test, commission and provide training on the new equipment to all staff. Output: New 4 inch flow meter which create now flow restrictions to the outflow of water to the town.
