Description

Description

Miami-Dade County has broken ground on a new $210 million emergency command center, known as the Integrated Command and Communications Center at Lightspeed. The project includes the construction of a new 12-story building and renovation of an existing 200,000-square-foot facility to boost the county's real-time connectivity capacity and provide a secure operations space for local officials and staff during emergencies like hurricanes. The new building will offer 300,000 square feet of office space and 1,600 parking bays, while the existing building will be renovated to add 100,000 square feet of office space. The development will also feature a rooftop helipad, an 80-foot-tall communications tower, 600 electric vehicle charger locations, and an on-site fueling station for emergency vehicles. The project aims to replace the county's existing Emergency Operations Center in Doral, which will be maintained as a backup.
