The IFS 2023 survey will be carried out by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO). Based on the EU regulation, core data are observed in the form of a sample, while ‘module indicators’ on the basis of a smaller sample. In order to reduce burden on data providers, HCSO takes information on organic farming and on rural development subsidies from administrative databases. The survey covers private holdings which carry or carried out agricultural production for market purposes on the basis of previous data collections and/or administrative data. In addition, it covers all agricultural enterprises engaged in agricultural activities and included in the agricultural register of HCSO based on administrative data. The sample covers 64 thousand private holdings and 10 thousand agricultural enterprises. The number of records to be sent to Eurostat (respondents and imputed holdings) is estimated to 51 thousand in case of CORE, LAFO and RDEV, while 33 thousand in case of MIRR, MSMP, MMEQ and MORC modules without holdings in the frame extension. Agricultural enterprises have to fill in the questionnaire, as in the case of their other data provisions to HCSO, in HCSO’s Elektra system, between 15 May and 15 June 2023. Key private holdings will provide data solely via a web platform by self-filling the questionnaire, also in the period of 15 May and 15 June. Private holdings other than the key ones can also enter the data electronically between 15 and 31 May 2023. Those taking this opportunity will not be visited by enumerators between 1 June and 15 July 2023. Enumerators will visit holdings and carry out a computer- (tablet-) assisted interview with them. Preliminary data are planned to be published in autumn 2023. Final and detailed data are expected to be available on the HCSO website in the second half of 2024. The total eligible costs are estimated to 1 476 490.42 Euros, of which the requested Grant amount is 1 000 000 Euros.
