Integrated Farm Statistics Data Collection is a statistical operation addressed to agricultural holdings in Portugal, which shall be binding pursuant Regulation (EU) 2018/1091 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 July 2018 on integrated farm statistics and repealing Regulations (EC) N. º 1166/2008 and (EU) N. º 1337/2011 as well as Commission Implementing regulation (EU) 2021/2286 of 16 December 2021 on the data to be provided for the reference year 2023 pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2018/1091 of the European Parliament and of the Council on integrated farm statistics as regards the list of variables and their description and repealing Commission Regulation (EC) No 1200/2009. This statistical operation seeks to meet national and international statistical requirements. This survey could also be used to collect some few variables that are of national/regional interest, although not mandatory in European Union terms, were pertinent and timely. Draw your attention that we are talking about eventually a very limited number of extra questions, and they are not counted for the budget of the grant, that’s why we did not consider as a combined survey. Data obtained will also make it possible to update the farm register and the agricultural sample base (Portuguese acronym: BAA). The work plan begins with the creation of a project team, followed by methodological development, consultation with users, preparation of field documents, updating the farm register and sample design. In parallel, the entire IT infrastructure is analysed and tested, and the necessary documentation is prepared for the operation to be certified by Statistics Portugal. Recruitment and selection of interviewers are carried out and, after preparation of the training plan, the respective training actions are given. The next step is data collection and validation, after which the data file is sent to Eurostat, the quality report submitted, and the data disseminated at national level through a press release and indicators on the Statistics Portugal portal.
