The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) is responsible for the implementation of IFS 2026. Based on the EU regulation, each module will be surveyed on a common sample, which sample will be the same as the core sample. In order to reduce burden on data providers, HCSO takes information partly on core variables and fully on organic farming, rural development and vineyard modules from administrative databases. In case of the almost 14 thousand agricultural enterprises (legal entities) a full scope observation will be carried out. Full scope data collection will be carried out for the almost 4.9 thousand key private farms for which have a specific, much higher threshold than the EU one with significant agricultural activity. The observation of non-key private farms will be carried out by a sample survey, using a single-stage cluster sampling as in IFS 2023. Their number is more than 53.4 thousand based on the current status of the Farm Register, of which 18 thousand are in the frame extension. The number of records to be sent to Eurostat (respondents and imputed holdings) is estimated to 52 thousand in case of CORE, LAFO and RDEV, while 18 thousand in case of AHMM and 8 thousand of VINY modules without holdings in the frame extension. Agricultural enterprises have to fill in the questionnaire electronically between 15 May and 15 June 2026. Key private holdings will provide data solely via a web platform by self-filling the questionnaire, also in the period of 15 May and 15 June. Private holdings other than the key ones can also enter the data electronically between 15 and 31 May 2026. Those taking this opportunity will not be visited by enumerators (with using CAPI or CATI method) between 1 June and 15 July 2026. Preliminary data are planned to be published in the end of August 2026. Final and detailed data are expected to be available on the HCSO website in the middle of 2027.
