The project aims at integrated management of urban green space with a parallel education, awareness and mobilization of the offending human resources. The achievement of this central goal is pursued through: a) the setting up of a model for sustainable design and redesign of the urban area, with emphasis on the promotion of role of green spaces and b) the pararrel setting up of a model of integrated water management of irrigation water, with emphasis to use of rainwater. The project involves the City of Thessaloniki which is the largest urban center in the border region and the municipality of Haskovo, who is based in the largest city of the Bulgarian border region. The implementation also involves the Technical Chamber of Greece and the InterBalkan Institute of Public Administration in a very crucial role in raising awareness and educating key target groups (engineers).
