The Rwanda Integrated Management of Critical Ecosystems Project, which is a component of the IDA funded baseline Rural Sector Support Program (RSSP) Adaptable Program Lending Project (APL) aims to help farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural intensification technologies that increase agricultural productivity and improve livelihood while protecting the natural resource base. The project consists of the following three main components and a fourth Project Management Unit: 1) Development of a policy and regulatory framework for integrated ecosystem management; 2) Capacity building and institution strengthening for integrated ecosystem management; 3) Development and implementation of community-based integrated ecosystem management plans for critical ecosystems; and 4) Project management, monitoring and evaluation, and information dissemination.
