Brief description of the first tranche of EUR 2.5 million Wild tigers form the top of the ecological pyramid in large parts of Asian forests. Viable tiger populations are therefore a key indicator of intact ecosystems. The aim of the project is to improve the management of selected tiger habitats, including their natural resources, reduce the threat to tiger prey, and reduce the dependence of local populations on forest resources. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is the recipient of the financial contribution and sponsor of the project. The estimated total costs of the first tranche of Phase IV are around EUR 2.92 million. To finance the project, a grant of EUR 2.5 million will be made available from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (FZ) budget item with regions. A further EUR 420,000 will be paid in the form of own contributions. The habitats of big cats provide a variety of ecosystem services for the local population. The aim of the project is to improve the management of selected habitats of big cats, reduce the threat to their prey and to support the local population in the sustainable pursuit of their livelihoods. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is the recipient of the financial contribution and the sponsor of the project. The estimated total costs of the increase in Phase IV are around EUR 14.64 million. A grant of EUR 12.5 million from the Federal Financial Cooperation with Regions budget item will be made available to finance the project. A further EUR 2.14 million will be provided in the form of own contributions.
