Integrated wildlife management in Namibia

The FC project is intended to support the development of an integrated wildlife protection system in Namibian protected areas. This is intended to ensure the sustainable use of the country's wildlife resources and preserve the livelihood of the population. The Namibian Ministry of the Environment is to be enabled to counter the increasing and increasingly professionally organized poaching with appropriate methods, appropriate equipment and in strategic cooperation with neighboring countries in order to protect the region's natural resource base. As part of a needs-oriented program, measures are to be implemented to create the necessary infrastructure, procure equipment and plan and implement flexible protection measures. Furthermore, the MEFT's capacities for wildlife management are to be strengthened through the use of experts and an implementation consultant. The aim of the planned FC measures is to protect existing populations of endangered species (especially rhinos and elephants) by the Namibian Ministry of the Environment in cooperation with the Namibian law enforcement authorities and the neighboring communities.
