The INNAQUE project seeks to introduce innovative nature-based solutions to complement environmental and earth sciences undergraduate programs related to aquatic ecosystem management at universities in Egypt and South Africa. The initiative aims to transition from traditional, knowledge-based education to a more practical, management-focused approach. This shift will equip graduates to promote resilient ecosystems by tackling environmental challenges, meeting socioeconomic needs, and addressing public health concerns The project emphasizes the completion and updating of existing programs to effectively manage aquatic resources and enhance ecosystems resilience towards pollution, climate change, climate extremes, alien species, and other issues An inclusive BSc program will be developed to adapt nature-based solutions and biotechnological approaches and foster innovation and entrepreneurial skills in the management of aquatic resources As the main focus is ecosystems' ability to anticipate, prepare for, resist, accommodate, absorb, and recover from the impacts of climate extremes, climate change and pollution issues, and other pressures, tailored-based courses will be developed to serve this orientation. Integrating nature-based solutions in the curricula will create interdisciplinary fields with significant applications for effective resilience and align with sustainable development goals. IINNAQUE will broaden career opportunities across various environmental, industrial, agricultural, and public sectors. The project's objectives include improving the quality of higher education, enhancing teaching strategies, implementing quality assurance, and promoting ecosystem resilience and sustainable practices. By bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, INNAQUE aims to create a sustainable and innovative education system that produces highly skilled professionals capable of addressing environmental and socioeconomic challenges
