Integration of internally displaced persons and stabilization of host communities in Cabo Delgado

The attacks and destruction by militant groups in Cabo Delgado and the neighboring provinces have led to a high number of internally displaced people. The host communities are clearly unable to cope with the refugee intake. Their already precarious situation has been further strained by the refugee intake. Children and women in particular are suffering from this. Malnutrition and gender-based violence against women are already widespread. The state structures of the province cannot provide the necessary services without a comprehensive support program. The aim of the measure is to contribute to improving the social and economic living conditions of both the children of internally displaced people and the children of the refugee-hosting communities and their respective families in the project region. The project contributes to achieving the sustainable development goals SDG 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages) and SDG 5 (Achieve gender equality and empowerment for all women and girls). The target group are children up to 5 years of age of internally displaced persons and of the communities hosting refugees and their families in the project region. Other target groups are involved community representatives, local population who benefit from the WASH facilities and the health centers.
