The project involves the implementation of intelligent transportation system (ITS) technology upgrades and data transmission upgrades to provide accurate and more reliable scheduling, updates, and alerts via customer facing service location displays and internet-based technology applications, while facilitating potential future service expansion that would leverage the extended data transmission range resulting from the project. The project scope includes procurement and installation of hardware and electrical components to enable data transmission over cellular channels, improving the quality and range of public transit data transmission, and upgrading ITS data format to GTFS-RT (General Transit Feed Specification - Real Time) format which provides accurate location of fleet to transit riders via with commonly used internet/mobile/smart phone application technology.
