"The German city of Sindelfingen and the Italian city of Sondrio have been officially twinned since 1962. Despite the regular exchange between the two municipalities, the exchange between the citizens of both cities has decreased. Covid measures had brought joint activities of associations and organisations to almost a complete stop. The aim is to organise a new start between the citizens of both cities and to build a broad, diverse and sustainable network between the twin cities. The first activity planned is a 5-day visit of 60 citizens from Sindelfingen to Sondrio in July 2022. The visit will be accompanied by a delegation led by the Lord Mayor of Sindelfingen. The main focus of the visit will be a twinning evening for the German and Italian citizens to exchange ideas with each other and with their delegates. The topics to be discussed are the foundation of the town twinning and the possibilities of new joint international activities in the social, cultural and youth fields. As European topics, the Corona pandemic and the possibilities of citizen participation in Europe through a contribution to the ""Conference on the Future of Europe"" will be addressed. As a second activity, a 5-day visit of 30 citizens from Sondrio to Sindelfingen is planned in October 2022. The aim of the return visit is to consolidate contacts between socially relevant and cultural organisations and associations as well as youth organisations. As a focal point, an event will be organised to support sustainable networking between the organisations and associations of both cities. Many citizens in both cities will benefit from the strengthening of the partnership, hundreds will be informed about the value and the possibilities of the European Union. The output is expected to be a strong network and new projects between the associations and organisations of Sondrio and Sindelfingen. This output will be extended to related European twin cities. "
