Description

Description

The proposal aims to enhance the application of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights across justice professions through two main objectives: providing transnational training for legal professionals and fostering cross-professional dialogue to build mutual trust. The focus of these training activities is on the scope of application of the EU Charter as well as on Articles 47 (right to an effective remedy and fair trial) and 21 (non-discrimination) of the Charter. To achieve these goals, the project employs a blended learning methodology combining face-to-face and online training. Activities include four cross-professional seminars on the EU Charter for 140 participants, a specialised seminar on EU litigation (with a focus on the EU Charter) for 35 private lawyers, four open-access webinars (two on fundamental rights and two on digital tools) for at least 120 participants, and asynchronous stand-alone training materials, such as an updated online library of training materials and audio and video podcasts. This approach ensures accessibility, interdisciplinary engagement, and the sharing of best practices across EU Member States. The project directly supports the Commission’s work programme by contributing to the effective application of EU law in areas like non-discrimination, equality, and rule of law. It also addresses gaps identified in recent reports, such as insufficient national-level implementation of the Charter and declining fundamental rights training. By targeting a broad audience of judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and notaries across Europe, the initiative fosters a common European judicial culture while advancing key EU values like democracy and human rights.
