Description | The Interborough Express (IBX) is a long-awaited light rail project connecting Brooklyn and Queens, aiming to dramatically cut travel times for cross-borough commuters by offering a route that bypasses Manhattan. The 14-mile route will run along an existing freight corridor from Sunset Park in Brooklyn to Jackson Heights in Queens, including 19 stations and connections to 17 subway lines, 50 bus routes, and the Long Island Rail Road. The project is expected to handle 160,000 daily riders and is the first new end-to-end rapid transit line built fully within New York City since 1937. |
