Description
Description | The Gebze (1555MW), Adapazari (780 MW), and Izmir (1525 MW) gas-fired power plants represened the largest private sector power investment in Turkey and a 15% increase in Turkey's electrical generating capacity. The power stations were the first to precede under Turkey's new BOO program. The Izmir project was located in Aliaga, near the city of Izmir. The Adapazari and Gebze power projects were located 150 km east of Istanbul. BOTAS, the Turkish state-owned gas company, supplied natural gas to all three facilities. Bechtel Power and Enka were constructing the plants. The plants were scheduled to enter full commercial operations in 2002. Enka's power plants in Gebze and Adapazari became operational on Sep 21, 2002. In July 2004, Enka increased its share of the project to 74% from the original 49%. None None |
