Description

Description

Disinformation constitutes a democratic challenge of present times. Poor quality information causes mistrust, creates social divisions, it exacerbates tensions, resulting in polarisation and extremism. Digital and social exclusion, low levels of media literacy skills and low political participation are contributing factors to the scenario where E-engAGEd intends to operate: A bottom-up approach to empower individuals to combat disinformation and build resilience. E-engAGEd aims to increase digital, social, and political participation of citizens, focusing on two Target groups: Young people aged 18-25 and Older adults aged 50+. E-engAGEd strategy in 2 years is to develop an intergenerational learning approach. The project: 1) Improves Critical Thinking and other Media Literacy Skills in both target groups by training youth volunteers as media literacy Trainers to be capable to pass on their knowledge on to older adults. The 4 TTT Events will take place in Belgium, France, Greece, Italy for 160 young participants, who will subsequently teach 160 seniors in the same countries in 3 further Workshops. The project foresees also an Intergenerational Methodology Report, with all didactic resources used. 2) Improves Intergenerational Responsibility to Digitally Engage in Society offering spaces for debates and exchanges between citizens of different ages about disinformation, digital citizenship and civic engagement. The outcomes will be used to shape other project activities: 120 Surveys will be collected, 3 National and 1 Transnational Debates organised, and 1 Policy Paper drafted with the contribution of 180 young and senior citizens. 3) Reinforces Trust in Journalism and Authoritative Media to Foster Political Participation directly involving journalists in the definition of News Literacy Training content, organising 1 Discussion at EU level about journalism and 1 Final Panel on the role journalists and media play in citizens’ political awareness.
