Description
Description | The aim of the project is to reduce barriers to higher education across borders and to increase the permeability between the two education systems through an extended cooperation between the South Bohemian University (JU) in Budweis and the University of Passau (UP) in the programme area. Both project partners intend, in a qualitatively new form, to build on a previous project, the main objective of which was to harmonise the educational offerings of educational institutions in the South Bohemian-Eastern Bavarian region, specifically of the two universities mentioned. The real goal of the planned project is the establishment of a Double-Degree (DD) valid at the Faculty of Philosophy of the JU and UP in the field of German Studies. The special added value of this course is as follows: Joint establishment, introduction and testing phase of the DD course. The Bavarian students at the JU expand their “areal competences” by studying the Czech-German problem, the added value for Czech students cf. the need for cross-border cooperation.Intensification of the harmonisation of education in the border area. This is achieved in the subject of German Studies through the compatibilisation of Germanistic study programmes; the graduate of the DD also has, thanks to his experience with the two higher education systems and their specifics, a much more comprehensive Germanistic education (see section “necessity of cross-border cooperation”). Removal of language barriers (in addition to the subjects taught in German, German students also offer modules of elective courses taught in Czech; the Czech students will benefit from the German-native language environment)Development of a common education strategyIncreasing professional, linguistic and intercultural competences of students within two mandatory semesters at the partner university, including the establishment of close links with potential employers in the regionsCoordination of qualification profiles within the framework of the double degree and resulting in increasing the chances of highly qualified posts in regional labour markets in the programme areaInformation and experience exchange and expansion of cooperation between the two universities beyond the research and student levels, e.g. for specialist and administrative staff.
