Description
Description | There is no uniform specialised training on flood management in the Danube region as EUSDR PA5 realized after the survey made in the Danube basin following the catastrophic flood events of 2013 and. 2014. Findings of the survey were summarized in 7 measures of the Danube Region Operative Flood Management and Cooperation Programme (DR Oper & Cooper) which was adopted during the 9thSteering Group Meeting of EUSDR PA5 in 28/04/ 2015. The 6th measure namely to develop an education/training network was defined as essential need in the region which was later incorporated into the 1st Danube Region Flood Risk Management Plan (DFRMP) of ICPDR. The lack of the dissemination of specific knowledge and practical solutions in flood protection hinders the implementation of EU Floods Directive and the Danube Basin Flood Risk Management Plan. There is a need to harmonize flood risk management methodologies. There is no emphasis in the Civil engieering curricula on flood issues, international professional networks and / or international project initiatives in the subject are scarce. The main objective of the project is to develop a harmonized, international postgraduate course on flood and flood risk management which integrates the knowledge of all participating partners and involves expertise of Danube region professionals during this process. The result will be a comprehensive flood management curriculum and e-learning materials, that offers a professional development possibility for Civil engineers. The DSPF project will provide for the possibility of unique education based on EU directives EUSDR PA5 and DFRMP needs and state-of-the-art research results, as well as extensive operative experience of the future-to-be lecturers. The course will be implemented in co-operation of the partners, offering an international overview for participants. The consortium is leaded by the Hungarian National University of Public Service Faculty of Water Sciences which has amost 15 years of experience in Hungary on postgraduate flood protection engineer education and more than 200 experts graduated. The partnership consists the Deggendorf Institute of Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and the University of Belgrade together with the observer status of the General Directorate of Water Management (OVF, Hungary) and the Zakarpattia Oblast Center for Hydrometeorology (Ukraine). InterFloodCourse project received a Letter of Recommendation from the Steering Group of EUSDR PA5 on the 19th of June. 2017.
