Description

Description

"The youth music project from 20 - 24/08/2025 is designed to align with the goals of the European Union's Action Plan on Protecting Democracy, while also reinforcing existing town partnerships between Großenkneten (Germany), Supraśl (Poland), and Evergem (Belgium). Approximately 90 young participants, aged 12 to 28, will partake in a well-rounded program combining music, cultural exchange, and political education, all under the guidance of educational professionals. Music acts as the universal language, fostering connections, mutual understanding, and lasting friendships. The project emphasizes gender inclusivity and equal recognition of all sexual identities to ensure balanced participation for everyone involved. The local youth from Ahlhorn, including those with migrant backgrounds, will be actively involved in select project activities, contributing through musical performances. The brass students from Großenkneten, the youth choir and trombone choir from Evergem, and Supraśl’s string players will participate. All participants will stay at “Blockhaus Ahlhorn” under equal conditions, encouraging a communal environment. On-site collaborations will involve a jazz group, known for its improvisation, alongside Großenkneten’s drum corps, illustrating that formal training is not essential for making meaningful music together. Political education will also be a key element, highlighted by a ""Speed-Dating"" workshop with local politicians, designed to build democratic skills and intercultural dialogue. A core outcome will be the collaborative creation of a multilingual pop song, developed as a hymn for the partnership, which will be presented at a public open-air concert. The concert will act as the centerpiece of the event, strengthening local engagement and raising awareness of European values. Promotion will span social media platforms, posters, and local mailings to ensure widespread community participation and visibility for the project’s outcomes."
