Description

Description

In addition to the historical, cultural and economic values of the towns, the aim of town twinning is to deepen the friendship between the citizens, particularly through personal encounters, and to promote solidarity. As part of this European International Understanding, the town of Wertheim organises the International Youth Culture Festival with integrated International Business Meeting between the twin towns. Only through joint activities and exchange can prejudices/stereotypes be broken down and acceptance and tolerance of social differences be built up. The meeting is intended to sensitise young people to cultural, historical and value differences and broaden their perspective on European diversity. In order to maintain the future of the EU, it is necessary to involve young people in twinning work. Young people from all of Wertheim's twin towns meet for the International Youth Culture Festival under the motto Hip Hop. This music genre is currently the largest youth culture in the world. Young people everywhere are dancing to these beats, spraying graffiti or trying their hand at beatboxing. The aim of the workshops for the participants is to learn new things and celebrate successes together in these three areas. Hip hop emerged 50 years ago as a protest culture against racism. Today, there are still many anti-racist rap lyrics, which is why the topic of ‘racism’ should be part of the youth exchange. Even today, nobody is safe from racism and it occurs in all age groups and social classes. To maintain the European idea - Europe as a unity – requires the effort of European supporters. For this reason, a Business Meeting of the twin towns will take place within this international Festival, bringing together official representatives from the administrations and the twinning associations. The focus is on the debate about the future of the partnerships, their role and ways of living and maintaining the European idea in the cities.
