Description

Description

Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement sponsored by the National Institute of Nursing Research, National Institutes of Health, solicits grant applications from institutions and organizations to develop and test interdisciplinary interventions to improve palliative care and enhance the quality of life for dying patients and their informal caregivers. Empirical and theoretically based interdisciplinary interventions focusing on diverse patient populations, across different illness trajectories and across the continuum of illness, as well as those which translate efficacious interventions into diverse settings to enhance EOL outcomes are of interest. Interventions capitalizing on biobehavioral variables are particularly encouraged, as are applications from new investigators and multiple PIs. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R01 grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. NINR expects to commit up to $2 Million funding 3 to 4 projects. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the quality, duration, and costs of the projects that are proposed. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
