Description

Grupo Eolico Dominicano was created in order to build, own and operate a 34 MW wind farm located in Bani, Peravia province, west Santo Domingo. Vestas Systems A.S. was contracted to supply 17 of its 2 MW turbines to the project. Grupo Eolico Dominicano was majority owned by the Spanish firm Inveravante. At the time of financial close, the project had signed a 20 year PPA with the state-owned utility CDEE. The power was to be bought by the CDEEE based on the price formula stipulated in Law 57-07 on Incentive to the Development of Renewable Energy Sources and Special Regimes. Total required investment was USD 76 million,. Financial close was achieved in July 2011, with the Inter-American Development Bank providing USD 26.7 million in loans for the project. As of financial close, the project's EIA had been approved and commissioning was scheduled for 2013.
