Description

This project is part of the Government of Liberia’s electricity master plan, which is currently being implemented by the Ministry of Land, Mines and Energy (MLME) of Liberia and the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) in cooperation with many development partners active in the energy sector in Liberia. The project focuses on the Monrovia-RIA corridor as well as the extension of the EU financed cross-border electrification project at Pleebo-Kanweakan-Fishtown. The project includes the following components: 1. Works: The project has so far reached the bidding process and evaluation of bids is at final stage for (i) Construction of 66kV Transmission  Paynesville -Schefflin -RIA; (ii)Construction of two 66/33kV Substations complete with all feeder bays at Schefflin and RIA; (iii)Distribution  Lines and  Service Connections for Paynesville and Schefflin Areas; (iv)Distribution Lines and Service Connection for Schefflin and RIA Areas and (v)Distribution Lines and Services Connection for River Gee: Pleebo and Kanweakan Fishtown Area. 2.Consultancy Services: The project has so far awarded the contract for Consultancy Services for Engineering Design of Distribution Network and Preparation of Bidding Documents for T&D in Paynesville, RIA Corridor and Pleebo to Fishtown. The recruitment of consulting firm for Management and Supervision of Construction Works - T&D in Paynesville, RIA Corridor and Pleebo to Fishtown is at final stage and recruitment of different consultant to provide training and capacity building is successfully ongoing 3. Procurement of Goods: Project vehicles, IT and Office equipment were purchased in November 2018. The acquisition process of different goods such as testing and maintenance equipment and electrical engineering software is ongoing. The EU-AITF SE4All investment grant will finance the construction of the distribution networks in River Gee County, and transmission/distribution lines and/or substations in and around greater Monrovia. It will also finance part of supervision works.
