Description
Description | This project aims at capital appreciation through creation of a venture capital fund that will make equity and quasi-equity investments in technology-based start-ups and small enterprises that have great economic potential and technologically innovative products and processes. The fund will invest exclusively in small enterprises in the state of Santa Catarina. The fund's investments will be diversified among a number of technology sectors, including software, telecommunications, Internet, materials, precision, and technology. Co-investors include local pension funds, the National Economic and Social Development Bank/Participaçoes S.A. (BNDESPAR), and the Brazilian Micro and Small Enterprise Support Service (SEBRAE). The BNDESPAR is Brazil's most experienced institutional investor of venture capital. The SEBRAE is an independent, private organization affiliated with a national network of organizations providing technical assistance services and business consulting services (information, enterprise start-up, business management, technology, quality and productivity, markets, international business, credit orientation, among others) for Brazil's small and medium-size enterprises. The fund's investment manager, Companhí¡ Riograndense de Participaçoes (CRP), will identify, analyze, and select potential investments. Once the investment committee approves the investments, the fund's investment manager will supervise, monitor, and sell the enterprises in the fund's portfolio. |
