Involving the public in the environmental management of cemeteries

Belgian and French cemeteries are deemed to be "conventional" when they are entirely mineralized, which is the norm in our two countries. However, the progress of legislation on both sides of the border obliges (or will very soon oblige) municipalities to switch to zero pesticides in these sectors. The objective of the project is to train/inform public managers on the greening and maintenance of cemeteries without pesticides. And on the other hand, to reassure and involve the public in a new approach to cemeteries (vegetation, use of alternative techniques to pesticides, acceptance of ordinary vegetation, etc.). The aim is to preserve cross-border natural resources (water, soil, etc.) and human health, and to promote biodiversity in towns and villages.
