IPT PowerTech (“IPT” or “the company”) is a leading telecom energy service company (T-ESCO) and energy systems integrator operating in the Middle East and Africa, with current operations across nine primary subsidiaries (https://iptpowertech.com/index.php). In the role of a T-ESCO, IPT designs, sources, operates, and maintains energy solutions for telecoms operators, including mobile network operators (MNOs) and tower companies, thus eliminating energy-related capital expenditure, and reducing operating expenditure for telecoms operators. This business line accounts for about one third of IPT’s business with the company operating over 10,000 sites across Lebanon and Guinea.As a component of the company’s growth strategy, IPT is looking to expand their current T-ESCO business line to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia. To support this strategy, IFC is proposing a debt financing package to IPT of up to US$ 45 million, consisting of both an A loan and further mobilization as required. IFC’s use of proceeds will be limited to the proposed Liberian, Sierra Leonean and Ethiopian T-ESCO operations.
