Operational

Iroquois Dam, operated by Ontario Power Generation, is not used to control outflow but gates can be partially lowered to suppress water levels downstream on Lake St. Lawrence and to slow surface currents for ice cover establishment. An adjacent lock allows commercial ships and recreational boaters to bypass the dam and transit between Lake Ontario and Lake St. Lawrence downstream.
