Description
Description | The aim of this SI project is to create medium to long-term income opportunities for internally displaced persons, returnees and needy residents of affected communities in Iraq. The focus of the SI project is on measures to a) improve employability through vocational training, on-the-job training, job placement, etc.; b) expand operations and companies using grants to SMEs from the Enterprise Development Fund (EDF); c) short-term employment measures (cash for work or support for public works) to create short-term income opportunities; d) renovate basic infrastructure that promotes the economy (electricity, water, access, usable buildings and spaces, etc.) to make it easier for companies to settle and/or expand. The project is financed through the special initiative for refugees and host countries and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The target group of the project are Iraqi internally displaced persons, returnees and vulnerable residents of host communities in the governorates of Diyala, Salah al-Din, Baghdad, Ninewa, Anbar, Kirkuk, Dohuk, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. In total, around 4,800 people are expected to benefit directly from the measures. |
