Irrigation Lake Creation in Thuraiyur Village near Kovilpatti

planned

The Tamil Nadu government proposed creating an irrigation lake in Thuraiyur village near Kovilpatti over two decades ago. The project involves acquiring land to develop the lake to support irrigation. The commissionerate of land administration has sought funds from the state's water resources department to acquire land for the project. The project had initial funding allocated in 2004 but failed to progress for years. Recent RTI applications have revived the project, and administrative steps are underway to acquire land and allocate funds.
