Description | The Italian HVDC project will connect Lazio and Lombardy along a marine route of approximately 280 km as part of Terna's 'Hypergrid' initiative to increase energy flows between Central-Southern Italy and the North. NextGeo-led consortium was awarded a contract exceeding €28M for preliminary marine surveys and environmental characterization along the route, including high-precision surveys for cable corridors to gather detailed seabed and marine life information. The submarine cable section will run from Montalto di Castro (Viterbo) to near Avenza (Massa-Carrara). The survey will commence in the second half of 2026 using multiple survey vessels. |
