Description
Description | Online job advertisements (OJAs) are emerging as a new data source for understanding labour market dynamics and evolving skill requirements. Today, most job vacancies in developed economies are posted online. These postings provide a more immediate and detailed snapshot of employer needs than traditional surveys. Crucially, they include detailed job descriptions and skills requirements, providing a nuanced understanding of the labour market. This allows for in-depth analysis and the ability to track emerging job trends and skills. While OJAs provide valuable real-time insights into the labour market, it is important to recognise their limitations and potential biases to avoid jumping to conclusions. The project aims to use the microdata and services of the Web Intelligence Hub (WIH) to assess the feasibility of producing national experimental indicators. In particular, the project focuses on the study of the Italian labour supply and demand mismatches through the construction of labour shortage and skill mismatch indicators. For policy makers, it is essential to align policies with the emerging workforce needs related to the development of new activities (AI and the green economy), in line with the European Skills Agenda and EU programmes such as Cohesion Policy and the Recovery and Resilience Facility. At national level, the project will emphasise the importance of a territorial approach to identify regional disparities and inform targeted national policies. The project also aims to develop, test and share at European level a pipeline that standardises the process steps for producing statistical outputs. |
