The project consists in the exchange of officials serving with the competent Italian and all the Turkish agencies specialised in the prevention, repression and, more generally, in the protection of the Euro against counterfeiting, in order to foster contact between experts in the sector and deepen with them the different operational and organisational realities. This is a proposed 'staff exchange' during which Guardia di Finanza will share with the representatives of the Türkiye the investigative experiences acquired in the course of the many investigations conducted in this specific sector and which have led to the arrest of numerous criminals, the seizure of clandestine printing works and mints, and the application of other real measures on the assets attributable to the suspects. This Country is affected by the phenomenon of the distribution of counterfeit notes and coins, according to the results of the analyses conducted by the relevant European institutions. The goal of the project will be to achieve a better understanding of the state of play in Türkiye and identify the best ways to boost cooperation with Turkish authorities, mainly in consideration of the threat represented by the alleged production and subsequent export of “movie money” and euro coins counterfeiting coming from Turkish nation. In particular, one delegate from the following Agencies will take part in the initiative: a. Directorate General of Customs Enforcement; b. KOM (Organised and Economic Crime Police Department); c. Central Bank of Türkiye; d. Judicial Authorities; e. Turkish Coast Guard Command; f. Anti-Smuggling and Organised Crime – Finacial Branch Directorate of Operations Presidency and Related Units - Jandarma; g. National Mint; h. Interpol and Europol Department of Turkish National Police – NCO; i. Guardia di Finanza Attaché at the Embassy of Italy in Ankara.
