ITS Hardware and Software Upgrade in Transit Buses

• The project consists of the replacement and upgrading of ITS equipment on buses in the Mississauga transit fleet. • Project outputs include replacement of the Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location/Mobile Display Terminal units (CAD/AVL/MDT) on 300 vehicles, upgrade of the back-end Bus Scheduling software (HASTUS) along with Bus Monitoring/Tracking software (Transit Master), upgrade of other ITS Equipment (cameras, dvr) on all 300 buses, and upgrade and activation of the software module which helps with vehicle component monitoring (Bus Intelligence). These improvements will lead to increased dispatching options and improvements in proactive vehicle maintenance, while improving safety by upgrading camera equipment and incorporating improved ITS features that will allow drivers to focus on the road. • The project will result in improved quality of the transit system in Mississauga, Ontario.
