IUSY 2025 Work Plan Proposal: Fostering Democratic Values and International Solidarity

The International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) is a youth-led NGO umbrella organization that unites socialist, social-democratic, and labor youth organisations from over 110 countries. Founded in 1907, IUSY’s mission is to support young people advocating for freedom, human rights, social justice, equality, democracy, and political solutions through international solidarity. With more than 163 member organizations, IUSY remains the world’s largest political youth organization. IUSY is committed to core values of freedom, equality, and solidarity, which reflect the principles of socialism and social democracy. These values are in line with the European Union’s core principles, particularly those set out in the EU Youth Strategy for 2019-2027. In 2025, IUSY will continue to align its activities with both its political program and the IUSY Manifesto, while focusing on strengthening youth participation in democratic processes and advancing youth rights. Key areas of focus in 2025 will include: 1. Strengthening Youth Engagement: IUSY will further promote youth participation in political and democratic life, with a particular focus on encouraging young people to take active roles in decision-making processes, national and European elections, and youth policy development. 2. International Solidarity & Cooperation: IUSY will expand its efforts to build solidarity among youth organizations globally, facilitating dialogue on youth policies, and supporting youth civil society engagement across regions. 3. Promoting European Youth Citizenship: Working closely with European partners, IUSY will continue fostering a sense of European citizenship among young people, empowering them to embrace democratic values and play an active role in shaping Europe’s future. By 2025, IUSY aims to empower the next generation of leaders, ensuring young people have the tools and platforms they need to shape the future of democracy, equality, and social justice worldwide.
