Description

Description

The IWitness project is a long-standing international education project about the Holocaust that already exists in multiple European languages, however not in Dutch. The National Holocaust Museum in Amsterdam the Netherlands, which is to open its doors in 2024, is planning to add a Dutch dimension onto the existing international project, with the help of its Hungarian partner Zachor Foundation for Social Remembrance. IWitness offers teachers and learners (subtitled clips from) survivor testimonies from the collection of the USC Shoah Foundation, as well as in depth educational material to work with these personal histories. The online dimension of the project makes it useable in different settings. Teachers select from the range of testimonies and the accompanying material available, to suit the needs of their learners and connect to their geographic context. This makes the project scalable, also in times of pandemics. The museum is now searching for the funds to provide access to this successful international project for Dutch teachers and learners. We plan to do so by choosing and curating stories, developing assignments and educational materials, testing these materials with the target group, reworking the feedback into the project and then by communicating it to Dutch teachers through teacher training seminars and through a large communication campaign. And since the objectives of this CERV call are completely aligned to the objectives of the project we could do nothing else but apply for funding.
