Description

Description

The Project includes: 1. Water Booster Pump Upgrades (Women’s Building) Replacing current water pressure booster pumps which are ~50 years old, not efficient, and have been problematic. This will improve water pressure (particularly at the upper floors), reduce repairs, and potentially reduce energy costs. 2. Caulking Exterior Envelope IWK Buildings Replacing / renewing exterior caulking in problem areas throughout envelope of the IWK buildings to reduce ingress/penetration of water causing leaks which create operational disruptions, promotes mold growth which presents as an infection control risk to patients, occupants, and patient care. 3. Hot Water System Upgrade (Children’s Building) Upgrading 2 hot water heaters (+50 years old) which are currently having challenges maintaining water temps (compromising patient care and building operations). Repairs are becoming costly compared to cost of replacement. 4. Electrical Room Upgrade (Children’s Building) Installing heat pumps to reduce excessive heat which is prematurely deteriorating circuit breakers to reduce the risk of power shut down to the entire Children’s Building (impacting patient care and building operations). 5. Electrical System Improvements (Women’s Building) Replacing 2 failing distribution boards (~40 years old) to reduce risk of power shut down to the entire Women’s Building (impacting patient care and building operations). 6. Hot Water System Upgrade (Women’s Building) Upgrading hot water recirculating system which struggles to meet hot water demand (reduce risk delays which impacts patient care).
