Description
Description | The Project includes several elements to improve COVID and patient safety measures: 1. Audio-Visual Infrastructure Improvements Upgrading antiquated audio-visual infrastructure in IWK meeting rooms to improve on-line/remote meeting/training capabilities, increase staff productivity and improve COVID safety measures. Recent response to COVID has increased our need to utilize audio-visual infrastructure to ensure the safety of our staff, physicians, learners, and family/patient advisors. 2. Pharmacy Improvements Upgrading / renovating the pharmacy main dispensary (~30 year old layout) which was designed for half the number of staff, is not meeting Accreditation requirements, pharmacy standards, operational requirements, social distancing requirements, and creating risks to patient care (med errors). 3. Birth Unit Improvements The current med room doesn’t provide adequate space to meet minimum patient care standards. Improvements to the space will reduce patient safety risks (med errors), infection control risks (clean/soil separation), and staff safety risks (ergonomics, crowding, and COVID social distancing). 4. Blood Collection Waiting Area Improvements Renovating/expanding space to meet current patient volumes, recent COVID social distancing / infection control requirements / standards, and to improve patient/family experience. 5. Barrier Replacements Replace patient care privacy (fabric) curtains with a standardized barriers to meet current infection control standards to improve patient safety, social distancing, patient privacy, optimize cleaning processes, and standardize barriers throughout the IWK. |
