Description | The Jafurah project is an unconventional gas development located southeast of the Ghawar field in Saudi Arabia. It is one of the largest shale gas developments outside the United States, with estimated reserves of 229 trillion cubic feet of raw gas and 75 billion barrels of condensate. The project uses advanced technologies such as walking rigs and hydraulic fracturing to accelerate drilling and completions. Production began in December 2025, and the project aims to boost gas output to 2 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030, along with significant ethane and associated liquids production. The project supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 agenda to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on oil revenues. |
