Description

Description

The “J'aime l'UE” project at Jean Macé vocational school aims at developing EU belonging and citizenship among students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Over three years, students will explore themes tied to their daily lives. Year 1: Trade and Advertising Our students, partly in the sales and trade sector, will learn how the EU regulates product safety, customs duties, free trade, and free movement. They’ll also explore EU advertising restrictions on harmful products (e.g., tobacco), and the notion of human dignity. The school’s eco-solidarity shop will also host eco-responsible European events that will target our students but also people living in the neighbourhood. Year 2: Media and Information In the digital age, students will understand the necessity to cross-reference information, recognize fake news, and understand the EU’s role in ensuring media freedom, pluralism, and independence. We want our students to understand that plurality of media is a pillar of the democracy. They’ll also address the environmental impact of social media overuse. Year 3: Europ’Art Students will explore how art in its different forms (literature, cinema, street art, etc.) can convey EU culture and values. Studying Eu culture and the EU countries’ cultures will lead the students to better understand the EU motto « United in Diversity ». An upcycling workshop will also focus on the symbolism of European flags. Examples of activities : Create a mural and flags in the school courtyard. Install an interactive EU information tablet. Host an Euro MP for discussions. Visit EU institutions (Parliaments, Arte TV, Jean Monnet House, etc.). Furthermore, the teachers involved in the project will integrate these themes into classes and different events (e.g., language week, Erasmus days, May 9th) using innovative methods and team work among students. The project aims to deepen EU understanding, promote citizenship, and inspire students to explore EU culture and richness.
