Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL or the company) is one of India’s largest integrated agribusiness players with operations in Micro Irrigation Systems (MIS), plastic pipes and sheets, dehydrated vegetables, processed fruits and others including agricultural technology and renewable energy solutions.JISL is an existing IFC investee.  IFC approved loans and equity investments in 2007 (project#24485), 2009 (project#27624) and 2012 (project#31665). Additionally, IFC invested in a JISL non-banking finance company (NBFC) in 2013. The company is headquartered in Jalgaon in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. Local facilities include food, plastics and MIS; agriculture including tissue culture, seeds and other farming; the JISL energy park that encompasses a solar power plant, solar appliances and solar pump manufacturing. JISL and its subsidiaries operate 30 production facilities for MIS, plastic pipes, plastic sheets, dehydrated vegetables and processed fruits. These are distributed as follows: twelve (12) in India, six (6) in the USA, three (3) in the UK, Ireland and Spain; three (3) in Israel, two (2) in Switzerland and, single operations each in Turkey, Italy, Brazil and Chile  The company also has onion contract farming operations around Jalgaon with about 5000 farmers. JISL’s plastics division undertakes MIS installation projects, irrigation projects, and water pipeline projects for urban areas. The proposed investment is a US$40 million equivalent Indian Rupee (INR)-denominated senior loan.  The loan will be used for a combination of capital expenditure in the company’s MIS business and debt refinancing.
