Description

Description

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) awarded a 25 year concession contract to Malaysian firm IJM Corporation Berhad (IJM) in March 2005, to upgrade and widen the 108 km long Jaipur-Mahua section of National Highway 11 in the state of Rajasthan. Under the contract, IJM was responsible for the operation, maintenance, and widening of the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane divided highway. IJM was also responsible for the construction, operation and management of the toll gates. The project further included the construction of a two lane ROB (railway over bridge), one major bridge, one flyover on Dausa Bypass (at junction point of NH11 And NH11A), and 15 bus bays. IJM established a special purpose vehicle, Jaipur Mahua Tollway Private Limited, to implement the project. IJM won the tender through an international competitive tender, conducted by NHAI, by making the lowest subsidy request of US$ 15 million. The project was estimated to cost US$ 109.5 million. NHAI gave a grant of US$ 15 million for the project. The project reached financial closure in 2006. Construction on the project began in October 2005 and was expected to be completed by October 2008. As per NHAI, the project was completed on September 2009 and is currently operational.
