The objectives of the TA are (i) to assist the Government to identify and design feasible measures to mitigate river bank erosion at MDIP and PIRDP that are sustainable and cost effective for agricultural lands; and (ii) to prepare the framework for sustainable river bank management and planning systems for both sites. These systems are to incorporate local participation within the institutional framework, monitoring, O&M, annual planning processes, and cost recovery mechanisms. It will build on the work done under the previous study completed in November 2000.
