Description

Description

In March 2000, Saneamento de Jau (Sanej) signed a 25 year contract to build operate and transfer a sewerage treatment plant to provide services for the municipality of Jau in the state of Sao Paulo. Sanej’s contract stipulated three years for the construction of a sewerage treatment plant with a capacity of 37.8 cubic meters per day and 22 years for commercial operation to serve the population of Jau (97,354 at the time of the concession). Sanej was initially a joint venture of Amafi Comercial e Construtora, Multiservice Eng. and Saneciste. In 2001, Multiservice had its name changed to Earth Tech Brasil, and became a company of Tyco Group. As of 2005, Tyco owned 99.9% of Sanej. A total investment of US$11.4 million in infrastructure was expected during the 25-year contract. Sanej started building the treatment plant in January 2001. From the beginning of commercial operation to December 2002, Sanej had invested US$2.64 million (R$7.68 million, 2002 value). In 2009, Sanej was acquired by Grupo Aguas do Brasil, a partnership of the Brazilian companies Trana Construcoes, Construtora Cowan, Construtora Queiroz Galvao and Developer.
