Description | The Jauru power plant project was awarded in Oct. 1999 to Arapucel. The project involves the construction and operation of a 20-MW hydro power plant, which will supply electricity to Arapucel's controlling holding Agroindustrial Araputanga (60% of the power generated) and to CEMAT, the privatized electricity distribution utility of Mato Grosso State (40% of the total power generated). This power plant will provide electricity to around 300,000 customers. Arapucel will invest US$ 16.6 million in the construction works, and commercial operation should start by 2002. Finam/Banco da Amazonia (BASA) has approved a credit to finance 50% of the project costs. In 2001, BNDES also approved a US$ 46.5 million (R$ 107 million) credit to finance this and two other projects of Araputanga. |
