Description | The construction of a 500 kV transmission line from the east of the main island of Java (Watudodol) to northwest Bali (Segara Rupek) is intended to meet the increasing demand for electricity on the island of Bali with electricity from power plants in central Java and, in the process, to switch off expensive and emission-intensive diesel generators on Bali. The project is divided into seven components, which are co-financed by ADB, the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund and the Indonesian government / PT. PLN. KfW is financing the construction of the 4 km long 500 kV high-voltage overhead line that connects East Java (Watudodol) and northwest Bali (Segara Rupek), thus connecting Bali to the modern Java interconnected grid by bridging the 2.68 km strait. |
