Jay Data Center Project

A data center project proposed at the site of the former paper mill in Jay, Maine. The project plans to use existing infrastructure, including an agreement with Central Maine Power for up to 82 megawatts, with potential grid capacity up to 200 megawatts. The project aims to use less water than the former paper mill and plans to build a solar field to help generate power. The developer plans to start clearing machinery in summer and begin construction in January 2027, aiming to be operational by January 2028. The project is impacted by a moratorium limiting data centers larger than 20 megawatts until November 2027, which the developer says would make the project unprofitable and likely end it.
