Description
Description | National Taiwan University (NTU) was granted to set up the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (JMCoE) in 2015. The purpose of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (JMCoE) was to improve and popularize the development of EU studies in Taiwan. We also provide an open, integrated and interdisciplinary infrastructure, connect people, students, scholars, and policy makers concerned with EU issues locally and internationally. For the past 6 years, it has successfully provided platforms for professors and specialists in the field of European Studies to collaborate and integrate their research. In brief, the relevance of the JMCoE is to contribute to Taiwanese citizens' understanding of the EU and its history and diversity, foster Taiwanese citizenship and improve conditions for civic and democratic participation at global level. Taiwan is more eager than any other country to connect to the world, especially by building relations with the EU. Hopefully through its activities and proposed exchanges with the EU, the JMCoE will become one of the most important centres for EU studies and bilateral civil society interactions in the Chinese-speaking world. Despite the pandemic situation, many of our activities have been forced to be re-arranged, postponed or cancelled because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The JMCoE still has confidence to fulfill the objectives of a successful JMCoE for the following activities: 1. National student workshop on EU studies 2. NTU-Kobe University joint seminar on EU studies and EU model 3. Policy debate forum on EU affairs 4. Cross-Strait EU academic forum 5. Workshops on EU affairs 6. EU teaching community meeting 7. European and EU studies program 8. EU study area in NTU library 9. Double degree program 10. Internship program 11. Fellowship program 12. Publication of EU book series 13. Annual Study Abroad Fair 14. Annual NTU Taiwan European Film Festival 15. Newsletter related to EU integration/affairs |
