Description
Description | The proposal will renew a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (JMCOE) at the University of South Australia (UniSA), building on the success of the current Hawke EU Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and its predecessor Hawke EU Centre for Mobilities, Migrations and Cultural Transformations. JMCOE will engage academics, students, civil society, policymaking, business and industry stakeholders, and the general public, on priority issues for the EU and the EU-Australia relationship, specifically: 1. I4.0, Advanced Manufacturing and Socio-Economic Change. 2. Creative Economy and Workplace Transformation. 3. Risk, Emergency Management and Global Pandemics. Objectives: • Assemble a team with world leading expertise in and knowledge of priority issues and relevant EU initiatives in these areas and bring European experts in these fields to UniSA to participate in the JMCOE work program. • Foster broader and deeper engagements with EU Studies among teachers, researchers and students at UniSA, and actively promote interdisciplinary collaborations – including co-authored scholarly publications - between European and UniSA researchers. • Draw upon established network relationships to explore potential new research and teaching linkages between European academic institutions and UniSA. • Work with relevant stakeholders, including organized civil society, in the co-creation of JMCOE events. JMCOE will also provide platforms for academic, stakeholder and public engagement with the EU Delegation to Australia and the European Ambassadorial Corps. Activities: The JMCOE work program is organized around the priority issues and centres on 3 European thinkers-in-residence delivering seminars (x3), workshop/roundtables (x3) and masterclasses (x3), and 3 visiting European public lecturers. The program also includes three annual Ambassadorial Public Lectures. Outputs: Europe Now and Monnet Conversations video series, edited volume, discussion papers, policy briefing, website. |
